“Add your own splash to the Water Messengers
Charter”
(38.2Ko) |
|
In 2003 the schoolchildren will be working on the drafting
of the Water Messengers Charter
 |
The Water Messengers Charter should
define the rights and
duties of all in respect to the issue of water,
that resource so vital for humanity. |
 |
Although the Messengers are not
specialists in the field of water, they are nonetheless
very important witnesses. They have been to many different
countries and have become ambassadors
in the cause of water. |
Proceedings
 |
Each of the winning classes, with the support of
their foreign counterparts, will present two
themes linked to their study trip (the preservation
of water and its quality, water management, water
potability, water as cultural heritage, sharing water
resources, etc.). Two articles will be written for
each theme. |
| |
|
 |
A writing committee will be appointed on
the 17 April 2003 to draft up the Charter with
the support of the daily newspaper La Montagne and
the Alexandre and Marguerite Varenne Foundation. |
| |
|
 |
Once these articles have been collated they will
be sent to a reading panel made up of members of the
UNESCO and the Clermont-Ferrand
Educational Authorities. |
| |
|
 |
The Charter will be officially
presented at the International Water Messengers Convention
and submitted to the participants’ vote. 10
articles will be selected. |
The Future of the Water Messengers Charter
The Charter reflects universal
issues revolving around the theme of water, and as such
transmits a message of solidarity which is destined to
spread :
 |
The Charter will be distributed
within the network of UNESCO-affiliated schools, public
and private charities, company foundations, the media,
political and institutional circles, etc. |
